What’s new in Kitchen Cabinetry…
It’s an exciting time for kitchens right now, with many leading brands launching innovative new designs…
BIOGRAPHY OFFERS THE BEST OF BRITISH
BioGraphy is a new flagship modern kitchen brand that has been conceived to reflect today’s British lifestyles and tastes. The sister brand to the Second Nature and 1909 collections, it has been developed to answer the surge in popularity for simple linear design, combining ergonomics and visual appeal with affordability.
It’s based around five themes to offer consumers a well-considered design and colour palette in both handless and slab styles. There are 20 colours in all, in matt and gloss finishes, in everything from the lighter neutrals of porcelain and cashmere to the darker tones of dove grey and graphite through to statement shades of saffron and spearmint.
A major hallmark of BioGraphy is its design flexibility and by introducing a mix of frontals, it can create a unique, tailored look. My favourite has to be the feature doors in character graphite and reclaimed oak.

NEW PREMIUM BRAND LAUNCHES IN THE UK
Virtu Kitchens, available nationwide via independent kitchen retailers, is the fusion of many European credentials – stylish Italian doors, British built cabinets, German engineered storage and Spanish solid quartz worktops from Silestone. The collection is divided into four families that aim to appeal to a wide range of tastes – the Nouveau handless design, the Expression contemporary style, the Artisan Shaker-style door and the Elegance family for traditional interiors. Supplied as a ready-assembled cabinet, the range can be personalised via 20 painted colour options and 23 door finishes, from Mountain Mist and Cumbrian Slate to textured wood grains, satin and gloss finishes.
NEW TONCELLI KITCHEN IN FOSSIL WOOD
Essence is Toncelli’s latest offering, an ultra modern piece of furniture that uses a material which dates back a thousand years. Blending history with innovation, the collection features fossil beechwood doors combined with titanium steel tops.
Thanks to the use of natural oils and the crystallization that takes place through time, eliminating porosity, these materials do not get damaged when cooking and are ideal for a practical yet refined finish. The door panel has the minimal lines of a recessed kitchen and the tractability of a handle for a true ‘invisible’ design. This handcrafted opening is positioned horizontally in the bases and vertically in the columns to create clean lines and a contemporary look.
KITCHENS FOR HIRE WITH KITCHENPOD
Now this really is an exciting and unique product – Kitchenpod offers high quality temporary kitchens for hire to homeowners during kitchen and renovation projects.
The service can also be provided in partnership with kitchen designers, interior designers, architects and building contractors and gives clients a cost-effective alternative to moving out or making do without a fully functioning kitchen during what is often a really disruptive period.
The kitchens comprise modular units (pods), which can be installed in virtually any room within the home (spare bedroom, reception room). They can be configured flexibly as the room dictates and taking into account the homeowner’s wishes. The pods have been designed with sleek, contemporary lines and quartz worksurfaces for easy maintenance and feature the latest Neff appliances. The innovative construction of the pods allows for installation with hot running water in just two hours. All that is needed is access to a cold water supply and standard plug sockets.
The kitchens start at £29.90 (ex VAT) per day with a minimum rental period of 18 days.
NATURE’S WAY FROM SIEMATIC AT URBAN INTERIOR
Championing the latest trend for farm-to-table, luxury interiors showroom Urban Interior has brought nature back into the home with its innovative granite Herb Garden, as featured in the Urban kitchen collection by SieMatic. Perfect for city living as well as country retreats, this dedicated area allows you to cultivate organic food and ingredients with fresh herbs and fragrant flowers.
A worthy addition to the Urban SE 8008 LM kitchen by SieMatic, it can be designed as a one line solution, around the corner or as a small top box on the countertop. Finished in graphite grey matt and sand oak veneer, it comes with waterproof stainless steel inserts. The Urban kitchen starts from £30,000.
deVOL LAUNCHES ALL-IN-ONE ISLAND
This stunning new piece has been added to deVOL’s award-winning Sebastian Cox range and was designed so that you can have everything you need for the kitchen in one beautiful island – cooker, dishwasher, sink and storage.
The modular design means that you can add or take away the cabinets as you please, changing the size and function to make it tailored to your cooking needs. I love the stained rough sawn panels and delicately woven coppiced beech – the perfect partner for the smooth copper finger pulls and hammered copper washboard and sink.
