Webs Furniture Training
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Webs Training facility in Nottingham, and was so impressed with the set up and resources that I just have to share it with as many people as possible.
Webs Training Ltd is a national provider of quality Apprentice and Adult training for the furniture and associated industries. They deliver training to anyone within the industry either in their workplace or within one of the Webs highly equipped workshops.
The work shops are fantastic, on the main floor there are a number of ‘pods’ where a trainee can install a complete kitchen, from base units to worktops to Tandembox drawers and CLIPtop hinges.
Once this has been completed the apprentices are encouraged to asses the installation, what went right and what could they improve on. Once they understand this they can then focus on the areas where they would like to improve their skills.
In addition to this, they have constructed a number of mobile base units, based on Blum’s ‘Kitchen Test Drive’ concept. This allows the trainees to work with spatial planning to understand the distances required to design a functional kitchen.
Training is towards a City & Guilds qualification in a variety of trades such as Cabinet making, Frame Making, Upholstery, Cutting and Sewing, Wood Machining, Polishing and Kitchen Installation.
Their main role as a Training Provider is to offer government sponsored City & Guilds approved Apprenticeship Training for the furniture and associated industries, promoting links with the industry, schools and Connexions service. They are also able to offer adult training within the workplace throughout the UK.
Additionally Webs offer further services to support the furniture industry such as Health & Safety, risk assessment and custom designed training courses.
