Step into spring

By

This month we’re in full spring mode, ready for those lighter evenings, snowdrops and daffodils and generally feeling relieved that winter’s over. Now’s the perfect time to give your kitchen a thorough clean. Fling windows and doors open, clean cupboards inside and out, tackle large and small appliances and have a good declutter. It does wonders for making your space feel calm and ordered as well as being good for you mentally, too. We’ve picked some of our favourite spring looks ready to give your kitchen a new lease of life this season…

Check out the new season houseplants from Dobbies

Whatever style and size your kitchen, it always looks better with plants. Houseplants bring life and vibrancy into this space and look great popped onto open shelves, windowsills and islands.

Dobbies has a great new range for 2025 with a varied selection for all areas of the home. Senior Plant Buyer Claire Bishop has the info: “If you’re looking to brighten up your kitchen and give it a fresh look and feel for the new year, there are plenty of houseplants that do well in this space. Fill empty shelves and corners with the air purifying Spathiphyllum, or Peace Lily. These elegant plants are proven to remove toxins from the air so can make your kitchen feel brighter and fresher, and they’re easy to look after, requiring little to no maintenance on a day-to-day basis.

“Other houseplants that will elevate a kitchen environment include the Monstera, or Cheese plant. Ideal for making an impact, the dramatic Monstera with its glossy leaves is also an air purifier. Pair with the Dypsis, or Parlour palm, as the different layers of textures and height will create an interesting effect.

Hop into Easter with Sophie Allport

Easter’s a bit later this year with Good Friday falling on 18 April, but there’s no reason why you can’t start decorating your kitchen now. It’s nice to enjoy an Easter tablescape and styling for a little longer anyway, so check out Sophie Allport for a wide choice of nature-inspired homewares and kitchenware. From charming bunny designs to fresh spring florals, Sophie’s collections are ideal for hosting Easter gatherings or gifting to family and friends. Add a seasonal touch with fine bone china, elegant linens and thoughtful accessories, all designed to bring a little joy to your celebrations.

Get organised with The Cotswold Company

While you’re decluttering the kitchen, it’s a good time to assess your storage options and whether you could do with a little extra. The Cotswold Company has a stunning selection of wooden units, including this Chester Dove Grey Shaker Cupboard, which features adjustable shelves and is delivered fully assembled, so no need to stress about a flatpack. Use it as a freestanding larder in the kitchen, cleaning storage in the utility or as a linen cupboard in the bedroom or on the landing. Invest in different sized baskets and boxes for smaller items and you’ll know where everything is in an instant.

Make a table centrepiece with accessories from Cox & Cox

Whether you’re hosting a large Easter lunch for the family or having friends round for tea and cake, give the dining table a lift with a seasonal setting. Cox & Cox has a great range of accessories for the occasion. We love these Swirled Glass Hanging Eggs, which look fabulous hung from Faux Leaf Sprays in a Speckled Stoneware Vase. You’ll also find the Rattan Tray and Dimpled Two Tone Jug and Splatter Glazed Mugs online, too.

Serve an Easter breakfast with Gisela Graham

Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a big difference. If you only have a small budget to freshen things up this spring, how about these Blue and Green Stripe Ceramic Egg Cups from Gisela Graham? Dress the table with blue or green linens and serve soft boiled eggs and soldiers on a sunny day.

Display Nkuku’s storage jars on open shelving

Sticking with the organisation theme from earlier, this season is also the perfect time to sort out your dried goods. Pasta, pulses, rice, baking ingredients, tea and coffee – it all looks much nicer when decanted into glass jars and displayed on open shelving. We love these unusual handblown and recycled glass storage jars from Nkuku with their hand-turned natural mango wood tops and elegant shapes.

Invest in new table and chairs from Furniture and Choice

If you’re up for giving the kitchen or dining room a bigger makeover this spring, paint walls in fresh white and royal blue and if you have stripped floorboards, give them a coat of white paint specially made for hard floors. Add pops of yellow with cushions, pendant light and wooden chairs and finish with a white dining table and chair set from Furniture and Choice.

Change cabinet handles with new designs from Yester Home

Give cabinets a fresh new look with new handles from Yester Home. These Monmouth brushed satin brass designs are a really quick and affordable way to update tired units. Team with the antique brass Brompton Dish Rack and Amber glass bottle soap dispenser then finish with a bunch of freshly cut spring blooms.
