Mocha Mousse: We take a look at Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2025
By Linda Parker
We were interested by the reveal for Mocha Mousse 17-1230, designated Colour of the Year for 2025 by Pantone. It is most certainly very useable and appealing – it is definitely a colour that is easy to work with. It will look presentable and relaxing in most homes, and seems to definitely mark the return to warmer neutrals and perhaps at last, a goodbye to grey …
MOCHA MOUSSE INSPIRATION BY PANTONE
Mocha Mousse, as it’s name suggests, is a delicious shade that is described as an evocative soft brown. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Color Institute, describes it beautifully. ‘Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, it extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace the aspirational and luxe. Infused with subtle elegance and earthy refinement, Mocha Mousse presents a discreet and tasteful touch of glamour’.
MORE MOCHA MOUSSE PALETTES
The Colour of the Year 2025 works with an interesting array of other palettes, covering vivid and subtle themes, so there will be something for everyone and options for bright zings of colour to uplift and energise. We particularly like the combination of Mandarin Orange 16-1459 TCX and Pink Lemonade 16-1735 TCX with Mocha Mousse, from the Deliciousness palette and can see both shades fitting into living, kitchen and bathroom schemes. Scroll down here for breakdowns on the other colour palettes, which include Subtle Contrasts, comprising low-key shades of blue and hints of grey.

Coretech elevates the material and the stone can be processed in various ways to create relief textures and finishes using traditional techniques. NEW DESIGNS FROM THE LONDON BASIN COMPANY
The London Basin Company has also celebrated the Pantone Mocha Mousse announcement, by focussing on the golden brown shade used for many of their luxury basins featured in bathrooms and powder rooms or cloakrooms. Zeinain taupe is a gorgeous design which features a taupe background with delicate butterflies in shades of gold and blue. The basin shown above is Coralie, paired with the Oscar tap in brushed gold with handwheel operation, an excellent illustration of the brown + blue colour combination.
BEAUTIFUL BROWN BY BENJAMIN MOORE PAINTS
We think that this shade, Leather Saddle Brown 2100-20 is most definitely a ‘brown’ brown, and whilst fitting perfectly within the Mocha Mousse colour palette it is a strong and positive shade that hopefully we will begin to see more of. We’re already thinking of it as an addition to a kitchen colour scheme, alongside the likes of navy, emerald green and the natural tones and textures of wood or wood-style finishes. It’s described by the Benjamin Moore team as an enveloping hue, inspired by the depth and character of well-worn leather. Shown here with Glacier White AC-40
DARKER NEUTRALS STYLED BY INDUSTVILLE
Here are some wonderful neutral ideas that revolve around a brown/natural theme – the result is a sophisticated scheme that won’t date, and which brings a feeling of warmth and relaxation to this comfortable bedroom. Featured here, the Ornate Thistle Table Lamp in Brass and the Errol Handknotted Wool Rug in Natural and Grey both add interest and texture to the room. Both from Industville
STUNNING MURAL FROM BY HALEYS
The concept of a large scale mural is very appealing – it can act as a focal point in an open plan space, defining an area and creating the effect of a smaller, cosy space within a larger one. This is the Eden in Honey Wallpaper Mural on matte, uncoated paper, from By Haleys. The colours are mix of golds, pinks and greens with brown undertones, once again a choice that fits into our Mocha Mousse themes. Also available in Premier Vinyl and Grasscloth construction, so can be used all over the house.
