As most of us are now confined to quarters (except for our wonderful NHS staff and key workers), we thought we would bring you some colourful ideas so you use any spare time planning your next interior project. Yes, we all have very much more important things to worry about, but a little creative therapy might bring some calm amidst this storm …

Anyone in the throes of planning a new kitchen or a kitchen update knows that the flooring is almost as important as the cabinets and work surfaces – it’s a large expanse of colour and texture that is visible all the time. It’s usually best to choose a fairly neutral theme for the flooring – which allows room for manoeuvre with future colour schemes – it’s easier to change the colour of the cabinets and the accessories than the floor! What a cheerful colour! Definitely one to brighten up a kitchen, bathroom or any living room! This is Covent Garden Floral, with a lovely warm neutral, Smithfield

The darker shade here is Soho House, which is definitely one of those shades (it has deep magenta undertones) that could add an interesting emphasis to a colour scheme. Shown with the subtle Fitzrovia
