Creative Ideas: If you have time on your hands indoors, here’s some inspiration

By

As most of us are now confined to quarters (except for our wonderful NHS staff and key workers), we thought we would bring you some colourful ideas so you use any spare time planning your next interior project. Yes, we all have very much more important things to worry about, but a little creative therapy might bring some calm amidst this storm …

Anyone in the throes of planning a new kitchen or a kitchen update knows that the flooring is almost as important as the cabinets and work surfaces – it’s a large expanse of colour and texture that is visible all the time. It’s usually best to choose a fairly neutral theme for the flooring – which allows room for manoeuvre with future colour schemes – it’s easier to change the colour of the cabinets and the accessories than the floor! Which is why we particularly like these luxury vinyl tiles from the Signature Collection by Amtico Used here: Tempus in Sooth, Embrace and Harmony, installed using the Frame laying pattern, and with Tempus Soothe stripping (that’s the strips between each tile).

We just had to show you some of the delicious new shades from Mylands Colours of London Summer Collection. It’s a palette of fresh, summery shades inspired by London’s landmarks and architecture. Mylands is a Royal Warrant holder, and this edit of 18 colours has been chosen to bring fresh and exciting energy to a new colour scheme. The paint formulation uses high quality ingredients and natural earth pigments so each colour has a unique depth, is easy to apply and has exceptional coverage and opacity. One of the finishes – Marble Matt – uses finely crushed marble to increase it’s durability. Other finishes include Eggshell for Wood & Metal and Matt for Wood & Metal. Tester pots (and full sizes) are available to order online. Shown above, this fresh blue-green shade is Long Acre.

This gorgeous apple green is Stockwell Green, teamed with a gentle neutral off white, Clerkenwell.

What a cheerful colour! Definitely one to brighten up a kitchen, bathroom or any living room! This is Covent Garden Floral, with a lovely warm neutral, Smithfield

The darker shade here is Soho House, which is definitely one of those shades (it has deep magenta undertones) that could add an interesting emphasis to a colour scheme. Shown with the subtle Fitzrovia

And finally, one more inspirational idea for flooring from Amtico …. This is The Linen  – a calming marble grey from the Designers Choice Collection. A great choice for a long-lasting interior theme.

Happy planning…
