kbb show 2014: 5 of the best…
Earlier this month we were treated to the latest product designs and innovations in kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms at the kbb 2014 show in Birmingham! Exhibited were vast arrays of products ranging from the most discreet furniture fittings to full size kitchen and bedroom displays represented in every colour and material known to man.
Como by Daval Furniture
Based in Huddersfield West Yorkshire the Daval family business was founded in 1978.
On show was the Como Bedroom range which featured two clever design areas, both of them created easily accessible storage, one above the bed and one below.
Over the bed an ingenious ‘touch control’ mechanism had been incorporated to give full access to an area that is normally fairly awkward at the best of times and below, the area behind the headboard had been adapted to store bulky items such as suitcases which often find there way into the most in accessible of areas such as the attic or buried deep in the garage!
I wasn’t alone in appreciating this clever concept as the company came away from the show with the prestigious kbb innovations award for their efforts!
LINERO MosaiQ by Kessebohmer
Storage specialist kessebohmer came to the show with a stand packed full of clever internal storage treatments, but the eye catcher and definitely most funky exhibit was the new version of LINERO MosaiQ in multi colours, it appears to be so multi functional that it left you thinking you have failed as a designer if you couldn’t find somewhere to utilise it… Simply Fabulous!!!
Nuance by Bushboard
100% waterproof and no extrusions is the guarantee that comes with this product! The result is stunning, it features 25 amazing reproductions of natural stone materials such as granite and marble. Even the textures feel authentic. The core material isn’t made from a wood based product but from a patented polyurethane core which is impervious to water.
Anybody who has experienced mouldy grout or soggy mdf will appreciate the benefit of this product!
Thermofier by abode
‘All four one and one four all’ could be the motto for this brilliant new product from tap and sink designers abode. We have all seen boiling water taps before, but this one is truly different! It actually features four functions, regular hot, regular cold, boiling water and filtered cold water, further more they are all controlled by just two levers.
Safety is also paramount as the design boasts a ‘non splash’ water flow in boiling mode, as well as an ingenious ‘control key’ that when held against the tap switches on the boiling function, eradicating the associated dangers of switching it on accidently! Sorted!
So here we have five great products, all featuring well thought out aesthetics, ergonomics and brilliant integral design features, all quite diverse but all sharing one common value…
Brilliance!!!!
