The latest ideas for kitchens & bathrooms: new looks for summer

By

It’s time for another round-up of the latest design ideas – and this time we’re including bathroom concepts and surfaces as well. There’s a focus on neutral shades with a few bold colours, such as mid-blue, yellow and mustard, which add contemporary style to calming colour schemes…

CALACATTA ROMA FROM NEOLITH

Two new products from Neolith appeared earlier this Spring, this is Calacatta Roma from The New Classtone collection. Calacatta Roma interprets marble in a fresh yet timeless way. The surfaces include NeolEAT technology, which prevents bacteria accumulating on surfaces. Neolith surfaces are made from natural raw materials, are 100% recyclable and have no added quartz. This design is available in three finishes, Décor Polished, Silk and Ultrasoft. For a darker and more dramatic look, try the intensity of Amazonico

NEW MISTY GREY CABINETRY FROM KELLER KITCHENS

Greys have become more delicate, heading to neutral territory again, and the new Misty Grey colour option from Keller Kitchens provide a understated minimalist colour scheme for timeless kitchens. This colour, one of 2,050 colours and finishes available from Keller, is shown on Shaker doors, which also come in melamine or lacquer finishes, and the Mist shade is used for silk gloss, structured matt finish and high gloss.

RECYCLED SURFACES BY DURAT

Introducing DURAT PLUS, a solid surface material created by combining recycled PET resin and recycled solid surface materials. Durat Plus makes use of any manufacturers solid surface as a raw material, with the resin made recycled PET plastic, which is made from plastic bottles. Durat Plus has up to 80% recycled content, standard Durat has up to 30% recycled materials and is fully recyclable itself. Because of its construction, Durat Plus has a distinct appearance, a uniform base colour livened up with speckles of recycled solid surface material. Durat’s goal is to be carbon neutral by 2025, with the aim of implementing the circular economy more effectively in all operations and significantly reducing its climate impact.

NEW AGEAN BLUE FROM LIFESTYLE KITCHENS

Lifestyle Kitchens have launched a new website, Lifestyle Kitchens, which is a swish, easy to navigate site, with plenty of options for clients to visualise their new projects. This is Salsa in Aegean Blue, also in Cashmere and Grey – perfect for building single-colour schemes or mixing and matching with neutrals.

BRAND NEW BRILLIANZA FROM CAESARSTONE

Brillianza 5310 from Caesarstone is one of the latest designs, from the Supernatural Collection, and described as a Cool Grey Veined Polished Mineral Worktop. It’s shown here co-ordinating perfectly with natural shades and textures, looking particularly good with dark blue and chrome, whilst still sitting pretty with timber finishes too. Available with a polished finish and in 20mm and 30mm thicknesses. It’s low silica and created using natural minerals and recycled materials.

GOLDWHITE GRANITE RADIATOR FROM THE RADIATOR CENTRE

Consider a new radiator as a potential piece of art – especially in a new large space – such as a kitchen-dining-family area. This is the Granit Goldwhite radiator by Cinier’s Art Radiators collection. They are available from The Radiator Centre, and use natural stone with new technology, come in water or electric versions, and some can be used with ground and air source heat pump systems. For a more graphic design, look at the wonderful Cortina model in aluminium.

GROOVY SANTANA FROM THE BAKED TILE COMPANY

The Groovy collection from The Baked Tile Company is an absolute joy, in muted shades of sand, greys and white, which will look good in bathrooms or kitchens, or indeed boot rooms, utility rooms or cloak rooms. Shown here, four Groovy Santana 15cm x 15cm tiles, alongside matching plains. If your current kitchen or bathroom project is situated in a 1960s or 70s home, these could be just the job …

STUNNING LUMI+™ ELECTRIC SHOWER BY AQUALISA

The new LUMI + electric showers by Aqualisa have a very impressive list of features, with an ‘A’ energy rating. The stand-out feature is the mirrored fascia and lighting strip, but the functionality is spot-on too. The lighting strip allows the setting to be easily seen, there are separate temperature and power level controls, a smooth hose and a handset with a choice of five spray patterns and rub-clean nozzles. To minimise the build-up of limescale, the shut-down operation is phased. There are three power options, 10.5kW, 9.5kW and 8.5kW. Stuart Clark, head of new product design at Aqualisa says ‘We have reimagined the electric shower with innovative design and exceptional performance, combined with eco-friendly benefits of water and energy conservation’.

NEOLITH IN THE BATHROOM

Cappadocia Sunset is one of the new additions to the Neolith Fusion Collection. Again, the Fusion collection has hygienic NeolEAT technology, the products are 100% recyclable and use natural raw materials. Cappadocia Sunset, seen here for the countertop and the wall cladding, was inspired by the Cappadocia region of Turkey with landscapes caused by volcanic eruptions. All rather different to the very sleek and desirable bathroom interior shown!

SWIRLING SEROS BATH AND BASINS FROM V+A

We saw these amazing designs at KBB Birmingham back in March, but wanted to have another close look here! The new Seros designs are the beautiful results of a collaboration with British sculptor Sophie-Elizabeth Thompson and Victoria + Albert Baths, capturing the essence of the movement of water through these organic and fluid shapes. The bath has a sweeping chamfered rim which will support the bather’s neck. The Seros 55 vessel countertop vanity basin echoes the shape of the bath, but can be used alone. The Seros 49 Podium basin has a twisting, flowing shape which is the first time Victoria + Albert have included this type of design in the collection. The bath is available in two sizes, the Seros 1800 and the Seros 1650.

FLECKED TERRAZZO EFFECT TILES FROM WALLS & FLOORS

A busy, all-over terrazzo patterned tile works to great effect when used for walls, floors and countertops. Team with simple black or white accessories for a monochrome colour scheme, and add pops of colour or greenery to keep up with current trends and colours. These tiles are Flecks Matt Grey Terrazzo Effect in porcelain from  Walls & Floors, each tile is 600mm x 600mm. Equally as effective and striking in kitchens – perhaps as a simple splashback – as in bathrooms.
